| The mission of the St. Catharine
College Medical Office Assistant track of the Administrative Office
Management program is to provide graduates with the administrative
training and clinical skills to assist in a variety of medical
environments with competency. Students are encouraged to develop both
proficiency and professionalism in confirmation of the School of Health
Science Mission and both the mission and vision of St. Catharine
College.
Medical Office Assistants are the only health care professionals specifically trained to work in ambulatory settings. They are multi-skilled personnel who are capable of performing administrative and clinical procedures.* The medical office assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices and clinics of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, and optometrists running smoothly. They should not be confused with physician assistants who examine, diagnose, and treat patients under the direct supervision of a physician.
