Integrate
advanced principles from the biological, psychological,
physical, and sociological sciences with nursing theory to
provide care, utilizing the nursing process, to meet the needs
of groups of persons in all stages of health and illness
throughout the life cycle.
Perform
a variety of psychomoter skills independently for persons in a
safe and effective manner, according to established policies
and procedures.
Provide
care to groups of persons with complex health care needs found
in acute and long-term care settings where policies and
procedures are specific and guidance is available.
Manage
the care of groups of persons in a prioritized and timely
manner and appropriately delegating activities and seeking
guidance when responsibility is beyond ADN scope of practice.
Incorporate
legal-ethical parameters of nursing practice according to the
ANA Code of Ethics and the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act by
accepting individual responsibility and accountability for own
practice and demonstrating a commitment to continued learning
and career development.
Prepare
to take the Registered Nurse Licensure Exam.
A
Prospective student Should:
Be
a current Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Kentucky or
Indiana.
This
program acts as a "bridge" from LPN to RN.
Have
completed 1000 hours of medical/surgical nursing experience
within the past two to three years.
Have
a grade point average of 2.5 or higher from PN program.
Have
achieved a score of 50 on the NET.
A
point system will be used to determine student acceptance into the
program. A score of at least five points will be required for
admissions. The admission committee will review applicants with
less than five points on an individual basis for possible
admission
