Objective:
The objective of this program is to analyze medical records,
assigning codes to indices of diagnoses and procedures and to
provide information for reimbursement purposes. Students will
learn to transform verbal descriptions of diseases, injuries, and
procedures into numerical designations. Students review rejected
claims and prepare for re-submission. The course prepares the
students to apply for the national coding certificate at the
apprentice level. Employment opportunities include multi-physician
practices, clinics, insurance companies, consulting firms, and
medical billing companies.
