Southeast Community College

Southeast Community College and Cumberland Valley Technical College in Pineville (formerly Cumberland Valley Health Technology Center) have established a joint program in respiratory care to prepare graduates to take the licensure examination to become Registered Respiratory Therapists. All respiratory care courses are taught at Cumberland Technical College and general education courses are taught at SECC.

In order to be admitted to the Respiratory Care Program at SECC, applicants must first be admitted to the Cumberland Valley Technical College's Respiratory Care Technician Program. Interested students should contact Cumberland Technical College at 337-3106 regarding the admissions process and the preferences given to applicants. Applicants waiting to be admitted to the program should be taking the general education courses required in the curriculum of the SECC Respiratory Care Program.

The program also provides an opportunity for eligible individuals who are Certified Respiratory Technicians to articulate 34 credit hours in respiratory care. The Associate of Applied Science Degree is awarded after completing the degree requirement graduates are prepared to take the licensure examination to become Registered Respiratory Therapists.
