| Respiratory Care Education
This program prepared the graduate to take an active role in the maintenance and/or restoration of cardiopulmonary homeostasis. The curriculum includes intensive course work in the supporting sciences and general education areas. Classroom instruction is supplemented with learning experiences in the campus laboratory and in area hospitals. The degree of Associate in Applied Science in Respiratory Care is awarded upon completion of the respiratory care program. Graduates are qualified to take the national board examination in Respiratory Therapy in order to receive the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. Employment Characteristic Respiratory therapy personnel are employed in hospitals, home care facilities, medical clinics, doctor’s offices, companies providing emergency oxygen services, and municipal organizations or as respiratory care faculty. Program Requirements Respiratory Care coursework must be completed in the sequence listed. Satisfactory completion of each respiratory care course with at least a "C" is required for progression to the subsequent term. Only persons admitted to the respiratory program may enroll in respiratory courses. Students are admitted to the program once each year. |
