Pre-Professional Medicine

Most students complete an undergraduate program before attending medical school. Exceptional students may gain entrance after three undergraduate years. Students fulfilling the basic requirements may be accepted with almost any major. Usually, pre-medicine students major in sciences such as biology, chemistry, or physics or in mathematics.

1 year biology with laboratory
1 year physics with laboratory

In their junior year, students must register with Northern’s Pre-Medical Review Board to indicate intended application to medical school.

It is advisable to obtain a broad background in natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Students should consult bulletins from schools of their choice for specific entrance requirements.

Medical schools give preference to applicants with the bachelor’s degree.
