Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Registered Nurses

The bachelor’s degree program (BSN) provides career mobility for the registered nurse. A substantial background in the liberal arts is an integral part of preparation for professional nursing. The upper-division curriculum blends scientific and humanistic theories with nursing theories to provide graduates with a foundation for professional nursing. Graduates are prepared to function in primary, secondary, and teriary care settings and in roles that are dependent, interdependent, or independent according to the level of care required. Graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Accreditation

The department is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission, Council of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Programs.

Admission Requirements

The applicant will:

bulletComplete an application for admission to NKU
bulletSubmit the Bachelor’s Degree Nursing Program application
bulletSubmit to the Office of Admission:
bulletofficial transcripts from a National League for Nursing accredited associate degree or diploma program in nursing;
bulletofficial transcripts of all post-secondary work completed
bulletMeet the following criteria:
bulletbe admitted to NKU
bulletbe a graduate of a National League for Nursing accredited associate degree or diploma nursing program
bulletpossess a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
bullethold current RN licensure. Proof of Ohio and Kentucky licensure is mandatory prior to the first day of any clinical course;
bulletComplete required prerequisite courses.
