The respiratory therapy technician administers general respiratory care. The knowledge and skills of the technician are acquired through formal programs of didactic, laboratory, and clinical preparations. Technicians may assume clinical responsibility for specified respiratory care modalities involving the application of well defined therapeutic techniques under the supervision of a respiratory therapist and a physician.
