Biomedical Equipment Technology

The Biomedical Equipment Technology program prepares students in the areas of medical equipment management and upkeep. Students will be exposed to various electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits and systems, as well as, various medical equipment technologies. General and specialized equipment for Radiology, Clinical Laboratory and Respiratory Therapy will be covered. Students will acquire general testing, troubleshooting, and servicing skills needed to maintain and repair medical equipment. Non-medical equipment such as televisions, VCRs, microcomputers, computer monitors, and computer networks will also be studied to make the graduate more versatile within the field. The final phase of the program involves off-campus clinical experience. Students may obtain an Associate Degree by taking additional classwork through the Community College System.

The technical courses are taken at MTC with articulated hours towards an associate degree at Madisonville Community College.

Length: Two full years for a full-time student.

Prerequisites: Math and physics.
