| Practical
Nurses work in hospitals, nursing homes, doctors’ offices, and
clinics. The individual will provide consistent and routine health care
to patients with common recurrent health problems within the
institutional setting, and function under the direct supervision of a
Registered Nurse, Doctor, or Dentist. The Practical Nurse keeps track of
patient vitals (blood pressure, respiration), Medication allocations,
follow doctors’ orders for patient, and maintains patient
communication and welfare.
Program Term Completion of the Practical Nursing Program course takes approximately 15 months. Pre-Requisites Before entering the program, students must be 17 years of age, have a high school diploma or have completed their GED. A placement test must be taken prior to being admitted into the program. Health Core and Support classes must be completed prior to entering the Practical Nursing Program. Healthcare Providers CPR required prior to entering NUR 110. Opportunities for Advancement Upon completion of the program, the graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. There is a high demand for Licensed Practical Nurses and you can expect to earn $9.50 - $14.00 per hour after completing the program. |
