Social Work Program
270-686-4220

Social Work is a profession concerned with the prevention of social problems.  The bachelor's degree in Social Work provides students with skills, knowledge, and values that are essential in generalist social work practice. Students focus on working with individuals, families, groups, and community organizations. The BSW degree prepares the students for careers in social work, as well as enabling them to do post-graduate work at the master's degree level. Since the program's inception, Brescia graduates in social work are highly sought by agencies for employment.

The BSW Program contributes to the university's mission by the strong emphasis on understanding people, a willingness to help others, understanding cultural diversity, and assisting in improving the quality of life of individuals, groups and communities.

Social Work majors may attend graduate school in social work at "advanced standing." They may also take the BSW state licensure exam. Majors qualify for liability insurance through the National Association of Social Work.

The University of Louisville offers the Master of Science in Social Work on Brescia's Campus. Students pursuing their master's may also complete their field placement work locally where it is convenient for them.
