| Associate Degree Nursing Bluegrass Community and Technical College Associate Degree Nursing program graduates are prepared to care for clients in a variety of settings as beginning Registered Nurses. The curriculum is one summer and 4 semesters in length and combines general education courses and nursing courses. Faculty work closely with students to give them a variety of learning experiences in the classroom, laboratory, media center and community health care facilities. Learning activities of students closely correlate with classroom learning. Graduates of Bluegrass Community and Technical College's nursing program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination to become registered nurses. The beginning registered nurse with an associate degree is generally responsible for performing nursing care with clients who are under the supervision of a physician. They are coordinators who assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for groups of clients and often supervise other health care workers. Employment is usually in hospitals, long-term care and rehabilitation facilities, physician's offices, clinics and home health agencies. |
