| Surgical Technology (1 1/2 year program) The surgical technician is a vital member of the surgical team functioning under direct supervision of a doctor or registered nurse in the operating room. The duties of the surgical technician include assisting the surgeon by selecting and preparing instruments for surgery, assisting with the operating room, assisting with the operating room equipment and environment. Considerable physical stamina is a requirement due to the necessity of walking, lifting, and standing for long periods of time. Graduates of the surgical technology program, are employed in the Tri-state area in hospitals and clinics. Basically three channels for advancement exist, each requiring further education: Free-Lance technologist, Registered Nurse, or Surgical Assistant. For further information, contact: |
